Please replace youtube-dl with non-LTS version of avideo.
(I made the first comment because I could not see the text of my task using Iceape or Iceweasel - it appears as white text on white background. It works fine in Web/Epiphany though. I'll open a bug related to this in the services section).
Hyperbola is a long-term support (LTS) distribution and it is adapted to maintain packages in above-mentioned date (2017-05-08 for Milky Way). Since there is a LTS version of AVideo, we will use it for our Kodi version which is adapted for our current snapshot. See our Hyperbola Packaging Guidelines for further details.
It would be nice if hyperbola provided an option of running a different version of avideo in kodi if the user installed it himself (e.g. via pip) or if kodi was packaged to use the system version of avideo. For watching online video an updated version of avideo is preferred as websites tend to break.
Our kodi version should be adapted to use the system version of AVideo used by Hyperbola (the LTS one) since it was packaged in accordance to our packaging guidelines, if there are issues in AVideo-LTS such as broken websites, then you should report to AVideo bug tracker to add bugfixes/patches in its LTS version and upgrade it, then we will upgrade here too.
Closing old bugs after 300 days. If this is still an issue please open a new report in detail. As Kodi uses the systemwide "avideo", the original ticket appears to have been resolved.
