Packages

It appears when I plug in my libreboot laptop x200 in, it appears to dim the screen and when its unplugged, the screen is bright again. Something peculiar is at work, I wondered if this could be fixed.

My assumption is it is related to lxdm or lightdm. Any thoughts?

I am currently using 0.4, so I don’t expect this to be a fast process, just when you get a chance okay?

/etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts has 0 entries, resulting in ssl handshake errors in java applications.

Description:

groff is typesetting system similar to TeX/LaTeX however, it is very small and very usable. It is not built properly with URW fonts, or such are missing, I cannot know all details. Overall groff package is basically somehow broken.

It shall depend on proper fonts, and such fonts should already be built, including their Unicode versions.

Package is only partially built.

without, flathub. But flathub requires qt5, version 5.9

And the part of docker that works, is also gone. This may be easier to fix.

I need one of those two to work. That’s all.

I request please can add to the hyperbola repositories the packages: ‘telegram-purple’, ‘Mastodon plugin for Bitlbee’, ‘bitlbee-facebook’ and ‘funyahoo-plusplus’ of course this is subject to not cause conflicts of security and stability in the operating system, thank you very much in advance.

Description:

Searx is better in the short term than search engines like Google and DuckDuckGo in that the client-side JavaScript is free and the server-side code is free and public. However, in the long term it can never be a real replacement for non-free search engines while it relies on non-free search engines for data. At this time, the major general purpose search engines who use their own data are all controlled by corporations like Google and Microsoft. The YaCy search engine addresses this by relying on decentralized data based on p2p.

For this reason, I believe that YaCy is socially a better choice than Searx as the default search engine for Iceweasel-UXP. However, it is not at this time a practically better choice. Since YaCy relies on its users to index the web, and does not currently have many users, the search results are not very good. This creates a chicken-and-egg problem, since it will be difficult for YaCy to gain users while its search results are poor.

However, Searx supports YaCy as a source of search engine results. I don’t know of any Searx instances which have YaCy support enabled, presumably since YaCy support would only be useful to users who have YaCy installed locally and running on http://localhost:8090, but Hyperbola could run its own Searx instance, enable YaCy support plus DuckDuckGo, and make this the default search engine for Iceweasel-UXP. This way, Iceweasel-UXP users can use and contribute to YaCy, but supplement YaCy’s search results with results from DuckDuckGo until YaCy becomes strong enough to stand on its own.

When you add Lumina desktop, add this package for sure. Although it is compatible with other desktops too. So it would be good to add it regardless.

Please, replace avideo-lts with youtube-dl. avideo-lts haven’t seen any updates for almost a year and is probably abandoned. Also Stallman confirmed youtube-dl doesn’t execute any non-free JavaScript, so its inclusion doesn’t go against Social Contract.

Description: Bug related to the font handling under Hyperbola. xfontsel doesn’t list the PCF bitmapped fonts, which are used for some legacy tools with Motif/Athena for instance. If you want to use a font with good coverage of symbols (misc fixed 10×20 iso10646-1) under DDD (for accented/non ASCII characters), you can’t, you are restricted to ASCII 9×15 fonts.

Additional info:
This error happens even if all -meta font meta-packages are installed.
