Packages | Any | Freedom Issue | Very Low | Low | [avrdude]: using "content" in description | Unconfirmed
Task Description
Description:
community/avrdude 1:6.3-2
Download/upload/manipulate the ROM and EEPROM contents of AVR microcontrollers
Description is vague because of the word “content”. The word itself is fine in English language, but here it is used out of the proper context. And it is not not necessary at all. When one knows what is the abbreviation of ROM, such as Read-Only Memory, then any mentioning of contents of ROM is needless. It is enough to say: “Download/upload/manipulate the ROM and EEPROM of AVR microcontrollers”
See: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/words-to-avoid.html#Content

community/autoconf-archive 1:2017.03.21-1

See: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/words-to-avoid.html#FreelyAvailable
Don’t use “freely available software” as a synonym for “free software.” The terms are not equivalent. Software is “freely available” if anyone can easily get a copy. “Free software” is defined in terms of the freedom of users that have a copy of it. These are answers to different questions.

Packages | Stable | Freedom Issue | Very Low | High | GNU Privacy Assistant (GPA) | Unconfirmed
Task Description
Hello Hyperbola!
GPA gives out the following errors upon opening the app.
First:
``` The GPGME library returned an unexpected error at confdialog.c:1459. The error was:
Unsupported protocol
This is either an installation problem or a bug in GPA. GPA will now try to recover from this error. ```
Second:
``` Fatal Error in GPGME library (invoked from file options.c, line 302):
Unsupported protocol
The application will be terminated
What can I do to overcome these errors? ``` As this issue makes gpa app completely unusable, I have set this bug report’s severity as high.
I also request the admin to set priority to high due to it’s severity.
Thank you!
Regards, RG.

Description: Per a user request and to better secure the kernel, we can embed the cryptsetup and ciphers in the kernel. This would mean rather than exposed modules, they are built-in to the kernel and ready to use even without an intramfs.
To be embedded: ciphers aes, twofish, serpent; sha256, sha512 - and the necessary modules (don’t forget the block modes xts, lvm and cryptsetup ...)
Additionally, we could include USB Guard and any other features that meet our social contract and security outlook.

Packages | Any | Implementation Request | Very Low | Low | [sayonara] add package | Unconfirmed
Task Description
Hello,
I stumbled upon this music player recently, it is very promising and fully free (GPL3)
“Sayonara is a small, clear and fast audio player for Linux written in C++, supported by the Qt framework. It uses GStreamer as audio backend. Sayonara is open source and uses the GPLv3 license. One of Sayonara’s goals is intuitive and easy usablility. Currently, it is only available for Linux and BSD.
Although Sayonara can be considered as a lightweight player, it holds a lot of features in order to organize even big music collections.”
Latest version is 1.1.1 and it is very stable on my hyperbola system. I think it would be a great addition to Hyperbola repo.
