https://www.parabola.nu/packages/pcr/x86_64/octopi/

I agree this is a good idea, of course so would calamares gui installer... but yeah. :)

That one has so many dependencies as it is Qt5. Isn't there simpler pacman GUI?

If you can find a better one, feel free, I am fine without one, I just wanted one because it could attract more users and make this distro grow a bit more.

Aka, more testers is a good thing.

Same opinion as @winter

I asked for octopi but if there is a lighter alternative, it would be great, especially for people scared by Terminal (like my uncle !)

It is fine to search for GUI.

It is also fine to teach your uncle about terminal and how it works. Empower your uncle.

@Jean Louis

I tried! It is not easy.. :) I plan to put Hyperbola on every family member's computer as soon as Octopi (or else) is available.. Right now, they all use Libreboot'ed hardware but with Manjaro.. Not optimal. :d

I have installed Hyperbola for a person who does not know nothing about installing. So I asked him which software is he using on his Windows, and I have converted his computer to Hyperbola GNU.

So, if you also have people who don't need any installing of software, just ask them what they need, preinstall for them and finished.

If you however do have somebody who likes to browse packages, it is very simple to learn how to use "pacsearch" and "pacman -S" and they shall learn it, rather than living in zero knowledge about installation.

And I am sure that it is way easier to learn 2 commands in terminal, then learning all the visuality in a GUI.
