When running lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings-pkexec as user. 

lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings-pkexec

Authentication is required to run Settings editor for LightDM GTK+ Greeter
Authenticating as: root
polkit-agent-helper-1: pam_authenticate failed: Permission denied
==== AUTHENTICATION FAILED ===
Error executing command as another user: Not authorized

This incident has been reported.

Am I missing something ? Thanks for your help

After the last polkit update. The bug has changed, now the output is:

$ lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings-pkexec
Error executing command as another user: Not authorized
