FS#1425 - [slim] login screen not displaying correctly

It worked fine on the previous version of Hyperbola. The word user/username does not show up. A workaround is to wait 10 seconds and enter the username and click enter - then it will switch correctly to the password screen (otherwise you need to enter the username and password at least twice in order to successfully login).

Issue cannot be resolved as PAM support was removed in Hyperbola Milky Way 0.4

Of course it's not a freedom issue but rather a bug report. Sorry about missing that field.

Thank you for reporting the issue. Could you give us more information? for example the package version number and the bug output

extra/slim 1.3.6-6.hyperbola3 [installed]
Desktop-independent graphical login manager for X11, with elogind and OpenRC support

How to obtain bug output?

For example: rc-service slim status -v

[alon@T60-hyperbola ~]$ rc-service slim status -v
bash: rc-service: command not found

[alon@T60-hyperbola ~]$ rc-service slim status -v
bash: rc-service: command not found

rc-service: command not found ? ← that's very strange, did you really run that command on Hyperbola v0.3?

I'm on the latest stable Hyperbola. Maybe I'm missing a package?

As root:

# rc-service slim status -v

As root I can run the command.

[alon@T60-hyperbola ~]$ sudo rc-service slim status -v
[sudo] password for alon:
* Executing: /usr/libexec/rc/sh/openrc-run.sh /usr/libexec/rc/sh/openrc-run.sh /etc/init.d/slim status

What is the slim configuration you have written?

Alon Ivtsan, I'm using → https://dpaste.de/qUzK/raw I could not reproduce the bug you present. Remember to specify the user in the file /etc/slim.conf

Fox example:

default_user snowden

My slim.conf

After setting the user name in the config file it still takes the filled in login screen with the user name about 20 seconds to appear (at first you just see the background) - after that pressing enter and typing the password logs me in (in the previous version of Hyperbola the username field appeared instantly).

try reinstalling the package:

pacman -Rns slim && pacman -S slim

and configure your user, maybe if you come from v0.2 there are corrupted packages.

For direct support and you could instantly contact me from IRC #hyperbola

The reinstallation didn't fix the issue - I think it might be due to a graphics issue related to Intel's driver.
