FS#1042 - [iceweasel-uxp] missing extensions
Hello,
I can’t manually install some extensions I was using successfully with iceweasel-esr (52.9.x) previously.
Notably :
https-everywhere https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/https-everywhere/ watch-with-mpv https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/watch-with-mpv/ tampermonkey https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tampermonkey/ Save URL to Wayback Machine https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/save-url-to-wayback-machine
How to install them with iceweasel-uxp ?

ESR supported WebExtensions, for privacy reasons we do not.
There is a known critical privacy bug in Firefox at this time: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1372288
As such, you will need to use the older so-called "Legacy" version of the addons. In reality these are the real addons prior to being gutted and re-written.
The last known good one for HTTPS Everywhere is 5.2.21.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/https-everywhere/versions/ –> https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/685695/type:attachment/https_everywhere-5.2.21-an+fx+sm+tb.xpi?src=version-history
Within reason, we can backport important addons and package them. The only changes that should be needed is updating the HTTPS Everywhere rules list in this case.
Hi Luke,
Thanks for the information. Since I was using firefox esr preivously, I assumed it wasn't using webextension, my bad.
It would be great then to have these extensions packaged.
tampermonkey is essential to me as I use some userscript on various websites which helps a lot on low-end machines.
Save URL to Wayback Machine is really handy to quickly save a webpage to archive.is
I forgot to mention this one as well (maybe there is an alternative ?)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mozilla-archive-format
There are other extensions I was using but those are really the crucial ones.
Maybe could we start a poll on the main page to see what extensions hyperbola users want packaged ?
PS : I don't know why my bug report has been changed from stable to testing ? I'm using stable repo and I've been asked to update to iceweasel-uxp. I assumed it was in "stable" repo.
I'll look into packaging some more addons shortly.
FYI, current Tampermonkey is non-free (last commit to GPL v2.9 was a long time ago): https://github.com/Tampermonkey/tampermonkey
- Greasemonkey or Violentmonkey may be an option, but Violent Monkey encourages non-free services "Dropbox and OneDrive".
Have a look at our addons currently being tested, I believe it is all that you requested and a few more.
